I don't think this will ever get answered unless it ever gets to Canon and they try to deny service due to this issue. There is financial risk by the owner if the camera were to fail (even for a problem unrelated to the 3rd party firmware) such that the Canon firmware could not be reinstalled prior to sending the camera for repair. I can only possible think of a very few remarkable things that would have to happen from the new firmware crashing or making a bad write and even then not sure.Ģ It would probably invalidate the Canon warranty. At the very least after removing the battery for a bit and putting it back in what evidence do they have?Įven if their firmware crashed in some weird way that magically tripped into a loader code and started writing nonsense into the firmware memory what would distinguish that from some normal terrible mistake while trying to upgrade to a new canon firmware?
